Located at the University of British Columbia, we engineer beautiful blades, all the way from the forge to the final assembly.

UBC Volcan is comprised of 3 major sub-teams: Forge, Blade and Marketing & Communications. These teams take on projects and work closely in conjunction with one another to maximize workflow and efficiency.

UBC Volcan is set to participate in the biennial bladesmithing competition hosted by The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society. This competition challenges student teams from around the world to use their knowledge of materials to design and forge a blade of their own. Each team’s blade is judged based on the blade’s design and aesthetics, a technical report, a poster and a video of the process.
